In the event of a death or serious injury resulting from an accident involving a motor vehicle, the owner of the vehicle or the authorised insurer shall be liable to pay the victim's or legal heirs' compensation in the amount of two and a half lakh rupees in the case of a serious injury, or five lakh rupees in the case of death, notwithstanding anything contained in this Act or any other law currently in force or instrument having the force of law. The claimant is not needed to prove or allege that the death or severe injury in relation to any claim .
